Overtime pay refers to the additional compensation for work performed beyond 8 hours a day.

what are the rates for overtime pay?

Below are the rates provided by the law. However, the employees and employer can make an agreement that the overtime rates be at a higher rate.

All employees are entitled to overtime pay except the following employees but may be entitled to the same or similar benefits if so provided under an employment contract:

  1. Those of retail and service establishments regularly employing less than 10 employees

  2. Managerial employees

  3. Officers or members of a managerial staff

  4. Workers who are paid by results

  5. Field personnel, if they regularly perform their duties away from the principal or branch office or place of business of the employer, and whose actual working hours in the field cannot be determined with reasonable certainty
